Hondurian RHP Edgardo Matute Lands a Scholarship

Edgardo Matute, a RHP becomes the first pitcher from Honduras to commit to a college program through the Prospect Farm. Edgardo was able to land a scholarship and will now be competing for a rotation spot in the US.

Edgardo, has a relatively small frame at his 5’9″ and 155 Lbs, but what he lacks in size he makes up for it in experience and pitchability. Edgardo has participated in Pan-Am Games, Central American Games and other international competition at the 23-U level.

“Edgardo is used to pitching against great competition in international play and has done so for a very long time, he has the make up, determination and a level of maturity on the mound that is far beyond his years. We expect him to find a lot of success in the US and lead his staff to several successful seasons. Edgardo will also be the pioneer of a number of Hondurian and Costa Rican players who will now have the opportunity to come and excel at the collegiate level in the USA through The Prospect Farm” Said Chema Sanchez (Founder and Scouting Director)
